Overview & History
Manufactured from 2007 through 2012 at its Basildon plant in England, the New Holland T6070 tractor was available in Elite, LS, Plus, and RC options. It was known for its affordability and ease of operation.
While the standard T6070 was powered by a 141-hp New Holland engine, the Elite option had a Tier 3 Fiat Power Train (FPT) engine, which single-fuel capability is beneficial for the tractor. With a relatively smaller stature measuring 453 cm in length, 191 cm in width, and 277 cm in height, one would not expect the T6070 to produce a maximum of 150 hp.
The T6070 was fitted with a 17×16 Active Electro Command transmission. It had four ranges split into four gears, but the top range had a fifth gear, which gave an eco gear that’s perfect for haulage applications. The transmission’s other notable features included the programmable shuttle gears for loader work and auto change in field/road mode, which would make operation easy.
This tractor’s cabin’s features were said to help make long days in the field easier: good lighting control layout, a deluxe air-suspended, padded seat, and cab suspension to make the operator remain comfortable even on rough paddocks.
Another thing that made the T6070 known for its ease of operation was its simple controls. The linkage controls were built into the armrest, a single gear lever for range changes and two button choices for gear changes within ranges. There were also colour-coded rear remotes that correspond to colours in the cab and in the rear of the tractor.
In terms of serviceability and maintenance, the tractor had a one-piece bonnet that gave good access for cleaning the cooling units. The oil dipstick/filler was found on the left side, which served as a handy reminder for operators on their daily checks. Meanwhile, the hydraulic oil used a visual sight glass at the rear and had grease nipples on moving steering points up front. It also had additional connections for jump starting on the right-handside.
A well-specced tractor that aged like wine, the T6070 is best suited as a loader tractor because of its sloping bonnet, clear roof panel, and good forward visibility from the large four-pillar cabin.
