Overview & History
Built from 1999 through to 2003 in Basildon, England, the New Holland TS100 tractor–along with other models from the TS series–was based on Ford’s 40 series. It is available in two- and four-wheel drive.
The TS100 was equipped with a New Holland Genesis engine, which was first introduced in 1993 when Ford New Holland unveiled its 70 series of tractors. But unlike the 6-cylinder engine in the 70 series, the one in the TS100 has 4 cylinders.
With an engine power of 100hp and liquid-cooling, the TS100 is versatile for many farm duties, such as carrying loads and tilling, yet small enough for easy storage.
This tractor is cab optional, but the standard ROPS will keep you safe when navigating rough terrain. As for the transmission, the TS100 is fitted with Synchro Command, which has 12 forward and reverse gears. There are four gears provided in each of the three ranges, and the transmission features a shuttle lever.
With this transmission system, the tractor may be shifted while moving, using the clutch, between gears, high or medium range, and forward-reverse shuttle. However, the tractor must be stopped before going into low range.
The TS100’s hydraulic’s system comes in open as a standard, though closed-load sensing system was available as an option. With two to four valves equipped, it can pump out up to 80 litres per minute, maximising the tractor’s efficiency, especially considering that the steering flow output is 140 litres per minute.
Other features of the TS100 include a 159-litre fuel capacity; 1,905-kilogram rear-lift capacity, and even higher when equipped with assist rams; and independent rear PTO. This tractor also has hydrostatic power steering and hydraulic wet disc brakes. These brakes are better than other types in just about every aspect, particularly in efficiency–meaning you can apply less pressure at the lever for the same braking power.
