Overview & History
Manufactured in Basildon, England from 2007 then discontinued in 2012, the New Holland T6080 was the range-topping model until the T6090 came along.
Just like the other four Elite models in the T6000 series, the T6080 was fitted with New Holland’s NEF FPT six-cylinder, 24-valve engine. It featured a high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) fuel system to achieve Tier 3 emissions compliance. This engine was known to have improved the tractor’s efficiency and consistency thanks to two features: Electronic Power Management (EPM) and Engine Speed Management (ESM).
Electronic Power Management (EPM) was where the common rail engine makes sure that each injector unit ran at maximum efficiency. When working with electronic engine management, the boost feature can then provide an additional 34hp in PTO or transport applications.
Meanwhile, ESM let the operator set their desired engine speed with the boost feature, which will keep the tractor running at that speed even when conditions changed.
The New Holland T6080 had the power command transmission with 18 forward and six reverse gears. With this, operators had unobstructed shifting from gear one through to 19.
This tractor’s hydraulics provided 100 litres per minute flow. There were four rear remotes operated by electro-hydraulic remote valves. Each lever had individual flow control, and timing to each valve can be configured from inside the cab.
The T6080’s rear lift capacity reached over 5,000 kilogrammes. The T6080 had longer linkage arms compared to other tractors, which allowed operators to get between the rear wheel and the implement to safely adjust and hitch successfully.
The PTO speed options were 540 and 1,000, and operators can change between the two using the stick on the right-hand side at the rear of the cab. The T6080 also had an auto PTO that automatically disengaged the PTO when the rear linkage was raised above a pre-set point to protect the PTO shaft and tractor. The system will then re-engage the drive when the rear linkage was lowered.
The T6080 came standard with the “Terraglide” front suspension and “Comfort Ride” cab suspension. However, the super steer front axle was negated when the tractor ran at higher speeds, though the cab suspension remained active.
Just like the other recent Elite models before it, the T6080 had a large four-post cabin that was open, light, and well-laid out. It had an armrest that was evaluated to be basic, uncomplicated, and practical. It also incorporated the transmission control, throttle, draft controller, and a cup holder.
The transmission controller was in a comfortable position, and the linkage raise/lower switch, gear shift up/down, and headland management control were all under the thumbs control.
Aside from these notable specs, the New Holland T6080 was well-regarded for its 600-hour service interval, which was double the other brands of its time. This meant that operators of this tractors will benefit in lower running costs and less downtime.
Daily checks were easy to do as well, because of the easy access to the engine and all service points, including the radiator. The rear transmission oil can be observed with a site glass. And instead of a traditional dipstick, the engine oil level was mounted inside the filling cap.
With a large range of features, the New Holland T6080 makes a reliable machine for long days on the farm.
