Part of the 66 series which were dubbed as “daily tractors”, the Fiat 55-66 tractor was manufactured in 1985 and discontinued in 1992. It came after the 50-66 model and preceded the 60-66.
The 55-66 came with a 2.7-litre, three-cylinder Iveco diesel engine, which had a 100-by-115-millimetre bore/stroke and a fuel capacity of 73.1 litres. This engine can give 54.3 hp at 2500 rated RPM and has a 129.82 lb-ft torque at 1300 RPM.
This tractor was available in two-wheel- (2WD) and four-wheel-drive and can be equipped with power steering. Its three-point hitch can lift objects weighing 2,900 kilogrammes and had a 540/1000 rear RPM. Its transmission system had 12 forward and four reverse gears. Its hydraulics system gives a pump flow of 34.5 litres per minute.
As for dimensions, the 55-66 had a 218-centimetre wheelbase and weighed 2,925 kilogrammes. It was 363 centimetres long and 238 centimetres high. The 2WD had a turn radius of 7.3 metres and front tyres sized 7.50-16. Meanwhile, the 4WD variant had a 8.9-metre turn radius and 11.2R24-sized front tyres. Both variants’ rear tyres were sized 14.9R28.
Even though its engine only had 54.3 horsepower, the Fiat 55-66 was capable of more tasks than the average compact utility tractor. This is why it still used in small farms to this day.
