Overview & History
The Fiat 450 tractor was built from 1968 to 1981 and was originally sold under the OM (Officine Meccaniche) logo. It has two variants–a two-wheel drive (450) and a four-wheel drive (450DT).
With its 2.3-liter, 3-cylinder diesel engine and a 13.2-gallon (50 liters) fuel capacity, the Fiat 450 is perfect for pulling equipment and other general purposes around a small farm. It can produce 45 hp (33.6 kW), generating 115 lb-ft (155.9 Nm) at 1400 RPM. Its liquid cooling system lets it work without issues even on the hottest day.
Its bore and stroke are 3.74 x 4.33 inches, helping the Fiat 450 run efficiently. Its 17:1 compression ratio lets it exert more power with less fuel. With a 2400 rated RPM, this tractor can run smoothly even under heavy load.
The Fiat 450’s 3-point hitch has a rear lift of 2,646 lbs (1,200 kg). It has both position and draft controls, so it can be used to carry implements above ground and can also be used for tillage and plowing.
This utility tractor has a gear, non-synchronous, creeper transmission, making it travel slower than a standard tractor. It’s equipped with a 254mm dry disc clutch. Also, it has a rear live PTO that produces 36 hp (26.8 kW) and can run at 540 RPM.
The 2WD variant weighs 1,759 kgs and has 6.00-16 standard front tyres. Meanwhile, the 4WD weighs 2,195 kgs and has 7.50-20 standard front tyres. Both variants are 313 cm long and have 12.4/11-28 standard rear tyres.
The Fiat 450 is an efficient utility tractor that works best in small properties. One of the few issues that owners of this vehicle have encountered would be the three-point linkage intermittently malfunctioning.
