Overview & History
The Massey Ferguson 250 (MF 250) was a two-wheel-drive tractor made in Coventry, England from 1983 to 1986. Part of the 200 series, it was the model that replaced the MF 245. Its last known price was US$ 15,800 back in 1986.

The MF 250 was equipped with a 2.5-litre, three-cylinder Perkins AD3.152 diesel engine, which had a 91-millimetre cylinder bore and a 127-millimetre piston stroke. The engine’s compression rating was 18.5:1 and had liquid cooling, dual dry element air cleaner, and optional ether or block heater for pre-heating.
This tractor produced 40 hp at 2250 RPM of PTO output power, while the drawbar can do 35 hp, meaning the tractor can theoretically tow loads weighing up to 3,500 kilogrammes. It had eight forward and two reverse gears and can run up to 33 kph at the highest gear (4H). Its hydraulics system had one to three valves and a total flow of 53 litres per minute.
Its other features included power assist steering, mechanical wet disc brakes, open operator station (ROPS canopy optional), and 48.1-litre fuel capacity.
As for electricals and dimensions, the MF 250 was fitted with an alternator charging system, which charged at 32 amps, and one 12-volt battery. Its front tyres were sized 6.50-16 while the rear tyres were 13.6-28. It had a 189-centimetre wheelbase, a 132- to 182-centimetre front tread, and a 142- to 213-centimetre rear tread. It weighed 2,079 kilogrammes and was 336 centimetres long and 187 centimetres wide.
Overall, the Massey Ferguson 250 tractor is a great, well-designed utility tractor. With its heavy backend, this machine is perfect for lifting large objects. However, it is not recommended for handling silage bales using a front-end loader.
